"10 Contemporary Townhomes in Beacon Hill"

Dwell Design worked with BNM Construction on this project to redesign a typical townhome project. The builder wanted a contemporary project that was clean and appealed to today's buyer. Dwell worked with value in mind to create great homes that take advantage of the fantastic location and views on Beacon Hill.

The first priority was to adjust the top floors to create large open master suites. The units now have beautiful baths with large showers, Ann Sacks mosaic tiles and large vanities. Many of the units have soaking tubs and three of the units have steam showers. The bedrooms and dens are large, open and light filled with exposed glue-lam beams.

The lower and main floors were adjusted to create better living spaces. Dwell laid out the kitchens and worked with the cabinet and plumbing suppliers to create functional, open and clean kitchens. The finishes include flat panel oak cabinets, stainless appliances and carrara marble and Chroma Quartz countertops. Every unit has a fireplace on the main floor clad in Ann Sacks ceramic tile with 30% recycled content.

Once the interior layout was resolved, Dwell worked with the owner and siding contractor to create a contemporary exterior. Hardipanel, cedar rainscreen and exterior grade plywood worked with the volumes to create an elegant group of buildings. The colors were chosen to complement the materials' natural beauty and differentiate the volumes.

Dwell created a landscape plan that complemented the contemporary architecture. The revised landscape increased the permeable area with permeable driveways and grasscrete in the maneuvering areas. The plan includes drought tolerant plants and low maintenance surfaces.

This project is five blocks from the Beacon Hill Link Light Rail Station.
